School profile by CIT Consultant, Anne Weber

Located in a quiet, upscale neighborhood of Memphis, Rhodes College feels like an elite New England liberal arts school without all the snow. The cohesive campus is a collection of stone buildings, each with beautiful stained glass windows and gorgeous wood details. Even the clubs and quirky little Greek meeting houses adhere to this old-school British look.

With just under 2000 students, the college is fully committed to undergraduate studies of liberal arts and sciences. Most classes have 15 or fewer students, and most students study abroad and participate in internships.

Perhaps unexpected but not surprising given its location, the Business of Music is one of Rhodes College’s top programs. Rhodes is part of Colleges That Change Lives, and its impressive list of outcomes supports this designation. I found Rhodes to be an outstanding and somewhat undiscovered gem for the genuinely intellectual student who looks forward to four years of deep academic pursuits within a tight-knit community.
