Congratulations to Layla Jackson!

Layla, a senior at Totino-Grace High School in Minnesota, is headed to the University of Minnesota to pursue Industrial Engineering.

From the start of her college search, Layla stood out for her incredible work ethic and steady, thoughtful approach. She is the kind of student who steadily gets things done—organized, proactive, and always planning ahead. She managed every step of the process with confidence and consistency, never letting stress take over, even while balancing a full senior year of athletics and leadership involvement.

Layla’s dad shared how proud he is of the way she embraced the journey: Layla approached the process with curiosity and intention, staying open to possibilities while remaining highly engaged. She took the time to dig into each school, understand what it offered, and reflect on what mattered most to her—all while keeping a positive attitude and even enjoying the experience along the way.

Layla ultimately chose the University of Minnesota for its outstanding engineering program and the opportunities it offers both inside and outside the classroom. She is especially excited about the Industrial Engineering program, including study abroad opportunities within the major. Beyond academics, Layla was drawn to the energy of a Big Ten campus—football games, school spirit, and the wide range of clubs and organizations. Being in the Twin Cities also provides access to incredible internships, experiences, and connections.

Looking ahead, Layla is excited to meet new people, try new things, and fully embrace college life. She has already selected her roommate and is looking forward to attending a Women in Engineering overnight event this spring—just another example of how she continues to lean in and make the most of every opportunity.

Layla, your thoughtful approach, discipline, and positive mindset made this process a success. We are so excited to see all that you accomplish at the University of Minnesota and beyond!
