University of Kansas with CIT Consultant Anne Weber
I knew we were headed to the birthplace of basketball, but I didn’t know how much more KU would offer. The first pleasant surprise was the speedy 40-minute drive from Kansas City to the lovely town of Lawrence.
Next was the gorgeous campus sitting on top of a hill. The campus is a nice mix of pristine older architecture, such as the impressive Spencer Museum of Art, and modern, represented by the Capital Federal Hall, home to KU’s business school.
From the moment you arrive on campus and see your name in red and blue at the Jayhawk Welcome Center, you feel the spirit of KU. Having spent time on many large campuses, I couldn’t help noticing how clean the grounds are. Jayhawks are proud, friendly, and clearly respectful!
But the most noteworthy delight is the commitment to student success. Perhaps more than any other flagship university, KU makes some of the most sought-after majors attainable even after a year or two in college. For students who don’t yet know what they want to study, this is a refreshingly human approach for such a large university. KU is known for its programs in Occupational Therapy, Special Education, and Public Administration, but I also encourage students looking for a Tier 1 research institution or a more accessible business program to take a look.
